The positive effects of grounding - Earth as healer

Have you heard the term grounding? Did you know that as energy beings, we have the ability to accept and discharge energy just by putting our bare feet on the ground?
Grounding, also known as earthing is a modality that refers to the direct contact between the skin and the earth. This is most common with the feet or the hands or with various grounding systems such as mats and sheets. The current research has resulted in a variety of positive outcomes that have provided us with peer reviewed research for this non toxic treatment.
These positive outcomes of grounding have some solid science and have proven beneficial in the following cases:
Inflammation - Grounding improves and even reduces the signs of inflammation following injury. This includes redness, swelling, heat and loss of function which was proven during medical infrared imaging. Specifically, grounding an organism produces measurable differences in the concentrations of white blood cells, cytokines, and other molecules involved in the inflammatory response.
Wound Healing - Grounding has proven to reduce and even close the wounds of elderly diabetic patients and in one 85 yo patient, the pain was gone and wound completely healed over in as little as 2 weeks.
Cortisol Reduction - Grounding has shown to reduce cortisol, a stress hormone which wreaks havoc on the sleep system. In just 8 weeks, it was shown that grounding regulates the circadian rhythm allowing for more restful sleep. When we lower cortisol and sleep better, we also let go of unwanted weight, particularly in the abdomen.
Reduces "Fight or Flight" - Grounding shifts you back into the parasympathetic nervous system which is your "Rest & Digest" state necessary for calm, grounded thought and action.
Elevates a feeling of well being
Reduces Blood Viscosity - Grounding reduces blood viscosity which reduces your risk of stroke and cardiac events.
What is responsible for this miraculous healing and recovery? It's the negative ions that we pull up from the earth. When we kick off our shoes and walk on the beach, on the grass or wrap our arms around a tree, we pull these negative ions into the organism and in turn, these ions provide us with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits.
Kick your shoes off on the lawn or sidewalk during your lunch break. (remember, concrete is earth)
Walk on the beach barefoot and be sure to get your feet wet as water is a special healer in its own right.
Walk through pebbles and feel the vibration in the rocks.
Meditate with a stone or crystal while sitting on the beach with your bare feet in the water. Take note, this is a powerful act. Start with 5 min. and increase as you feel the need from there.
Be a tree hugger! Wrap your arms around a tree feel the vibration and smell the bark.

In the studies, patches were used that have special conductive systems similar to the earth. Should you find yourself in need of additional grounding or find you just can't connect with the earth as frequently as you would like, there are patches, bed sheets, mats and wrist bands found here.
You can also purchase special tabs to add to the sole of your shoes to be grounded at all times while on sidewalk or dirt. These can be found here.

This only increases adrenaline preventing you from properly using oxygen. This can be done in the car, the workplace or anywhere you find yourself in a state of anxiety or hyperventilation. If you're alone, in your car or have the freedom of making noise, let your breath out be a hum. The natural vibration of your own voice is self soothing and will vibrate you back to calm.
Keep a favorite rock or crystal with you. This can be a bracelet, a pendant, a pocket stone or decorative on your desk. Grab that stone, hold it for a few seconds and ask for calm, ask for grounding and set your intention Use tip one above with breath to increase your vibration.
